Lyn Burton has been appointed manager of the Great Britain Senior Women.

She has been manager of the Bracknell Queen Bees since 1998 and was instrumental in the growth of the club and the introduction of the Fire Bees and the U16 Ice Bees.

Lyn, who was born in West London, is also currently the manager of England and U16 South of England Under-16s girls' teams.

She said: "I am totally committed to women’s ice hockey and have been a part of the building of the Bracknell Queen Bees and the England girls’ programme.

Jon Kynaston has stepped down from his position as assistant coach of the Great Britain Under-18s. Kynaston is also head coach of EPL side Peterborough Phantoms, aswell as the Cambridgeshire sides Junior Academy..

He said: "I will regrettably have to withdraw from the coaching staff of the U18s for this coming season.

"Some of the dates for the Under-18s camps and tournament will clash with the domestic schedule and I want to be fully focused on my job at Peterborough.

"I have really enjoyed working with Martin Grubb (coach) and the rest of the coaching staff and team and wish them every success.

Ice Hockey UK will soon be selling special limited-edition 100-year anniversary shirts. The shirts, which will cost £100 and the design is based on the current Great Britain shirt and will sport the 100-year anniversary Ice Hockey UK logo.

IHUK general secretary, Andy French, said: "We think the new-look shirts look great and they are perfect for the 100-year celebrations.

"We have a number of events being held this year, including the 100-year celebration dinner.

"As a special offer to GB fans, anyone wearing one of the new shirts at the World Championship (Division 1B) in Dumfries, can watch all the games for free."

The British Sledge Hockey Association (BSHA) has announced today the 14 players who will represent the Great Britain Sledge Hockey team for the Paralympic Qualifiers, to be held in Turin from the 20th to 26th October, to secure a place at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games.

GB sledge hockey has not competed at a Paralympic games since Turin in 2006 with a talented team that included London 2012 Paralympic Gold Medallist, Richard Whitehead alongside World Champions Stephen Thomas (sailing) and Nathan Stephens (athletics).

Since missing out on qualifying for the last winter Paralympics in Vancouver in 2010, the BSHA has established a robust development programme and established a national league structure supported by committed stakeholders.

Over the past four years the GB team has risen consistently up the world rankings culminating in winning a bronze medal earlier this year at the IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships (Pool B) in Japan.

Cherepanov Cup - Coaches Views PDF Print E-mail

Coach Martin Grubb says the youngsters in the Great Britain Under-20s squad will benefit hugely from this week's trip to Lithuania.

GB returned to Luton Airport in the early hours of this morning (Thursday) after five games in six days at the Cherepanov Cup.

The British youngsters got their tournament off to a dramatic start with a thrilling victory over Belarus, before a defeat by Russian side Omsk Hawks.

GB then lost to Energy - a senior side from Lithuania - before rounding off the tournament with defeats by Russian side Kapitan and Poland Under-20s.
